Principal's Message

Welcome to Albion Grade School! Here is some important information for Parents and Guardians as we start the year:

  • Drop off and pick up for Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth grade students is at the Elementary entrance on the East side of the K-12 building. The doors open at 8:00 AM and are locked promptly at 8:25 AM when we begin dismissing students to their classrooms to start the day!

  • Student safety is very important to us! The doors remain locked throughout the school day. If you need to pick up your child from school between 8:25 AM and 3:25 PM - please come to the Junior High entrance on the West side of the K-12 and use the call box outside the door to contact the AGS office. Please share this information with your contacts that have pick-up permission to save them time! We have had some grandparents become frustrated when they come to the Elementary doors during the day and have to go to the other side of the building.

  • Please contact the AGS office by 2:30 PM if your student’s transportation plans change during the day. This way we can notify teachers and bus drivers in a timely manner.

  • K-3 students go out to the playground each morning unless the temperature is below 32 degrees or there is significant wind chill at that temperature. Please make sure to send jackets and coats when needed. Elementary students also often go outside for Physical Education class when the weather is appropriate!

  • Our district-wide student management system is TeacherEase. (https://www.teacherease.com) Please make sure all contact information is up to date in this system. We use the phone numbers and email addresses provided for family members to send communications and contact parents with important school information. Please check your email regularly for any updates. In an urgent situation, we will send an all-call or school-wide text with urgent information.

  • Please remember: If your child participates in an after-school extracurricular activity, they must leave at dismissal time and return at the time of the activity unless their coach or sponsor has made arrangements to supervise them here at school. There is no supervision for students throughout the building between the end of the school day and sporting events.

  • If you and your family attend sporting events here at AGS, please have the children stay in the gymnasium during games. There is no hallway supervision during games at Albion Grade School.

  • This year we are doing BRAG TAGS as part of the Accelerated Reader program. Look for more information coming from your child’s teacher!

  • At the end of each quarter, we have a Good Behavior Reward! Students who have not received any discipline referrals and have not been sent to the office for behavior issues throughout the quarter are eligible for the reward!

  • Each month, students who are referred by their teachers for exceptional character and diligence in academics may participate in Picnic with the Principal!

  • The Regional Office of Education and ISBE require us to perform Safety drills throughout the school year. You have the option to opt your child out of certain drills if you choose. (The list of dates is provided - please contact Mrs. Wells or the AGS Office if you have questions.)
